Make Your Garden Greener with President's Choice Lawn & Garden Event

Review of the President's Choice Product Launch

April 29, 2009

From the moment the taxi pulled into the Arta Gallery parking lot in the Distillery District, I knew this event was going to be special. Dressed in black uniforms, an army of valet parking attendants eyed our approach. When I entered the building, I was greeted with friendly smiles offering welcoming trays of Mimosas and hors d’oeuvres.

party guests

This year’s invited guests included not only Toronto area Garden writers but also Lifestyle writers. I even noticed a few people from CITY TV with whom I used to work 20 years ago. Considering a few of them look younger today than they did then, I chose not to remind them of how long ago it was.

Veronica Sliva

Garden writer, Veronica Sliva demonstrates for me one of the beautiful grills that were on display.

The hall was laid out with garden-themed entertaining vignettes. From cooking to dining to lounging, they were all beautiful collections. There was even a children’s furniture area.

Cristina Da Silva

Cristina Da Silva was a great sport when I made her pose in the lounge area for a photo.

Marjorie Harris

In the back lane of the hall could be found a collection of this year’s new President’s Choice feature plants. Here Marjorie Harris is meticulously recording all of the most interesting varieties.

Monique Dobson

President’s Choice has always done well with their clematis. Here, to prove the point, is Monique Dobson holding up an ‘Empress’ clematis with a flower as large as her head!

PC Green Rainbarrel

The real stand out product for me was the very ergonomically designed rain barrel. It is rectangular, so it fits tight up against the house. It would have been nice if it came in some larger sizes, but I’m sure in time that will come. The design is the best that I’ve seen.

At the end of the event participants were invited to take home any of the plant material that they would like to trial in the garden.

Barbara Phillips-Conroy

Here Barbara Phillips-Conroy shows off some of the plants that she will be testing.

What a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours on a sunny afternoon. Rock-it Promotions should be commended for putting on this delightful event. For more information about some of the lawn and garden products that were featured check out
