I was very pleased to be able to shoot and edit together this video highlighting the restoration of St. James Park by many members of Landscape Ontario and The Nursery Sod Growers Association.
The project was two intense days of preparing the site and installing the new sod. The ground was aerated and supplemented. The trees and shrubs were pruned and mulched. The next day, thousands of roles of sod were laid out faster than most people had ever seen before.
And all labour, equipment and materials were generously donated.
Check it out in the video below. I'm extremely pleased with it, and I think you will enjoy it also.

Don't forget this Christmas to purchase special holiday stamps from Canada Post.

With the Flocktail Party on hold for this year, THE garden party for spring and summer 2011 was the Toronto Botanical Garden's Woman to Woman, Luncheon Party in the Garden.
This is probably my best video so far. The weather was perfect. It was bright, but not hot. The ladies looked beautiful. The food was amazing. I couldn't have asked for more. I hope you enjoy it.

There was an army of notable people there. Here are some pictures of just a few of them.

Every year President's Choice has a big lawn & garden Product Launch party for the media that specializes in gardening. I've been to three of these events. The first that I attended was held down in the Historic Distillery District. The second one that I attended was a fun Bus Tour. This year they decided to hold it at the Toronto Botanical Garden in the Floral Hall.

The Hall was set up with a series of booths displaying the product from the various wholesalers. Experts were there to describe the new products and field questions.

I really like Charlie Dobbin. She is wonderfully funny and friendly and an all round good sport. Her very popular radio show on AM 740 radio is currently being sponsored by Scotts. They are the same people who bring us Miracle Grow.
I asked her if she would be interested in doing a video with me and we decided that she could show me the new products from Scotts that most people should be aware of for this summer. So much has changed recently with all the pesticide bans that it is good to have a refresher on what is out there for us to use.
We did the radio show first, which was so much fun, and then went up into the atrium to shoot the video.

I think it turned out really well! Considering that it was just me, Charlie, Scotts Products, and a flip camera, it looks really fantastic. Don't forget to look up Charlie on Facebook. She just started her Facebook account and is one of my Facebook friends.

Looking back at this spring, I can see that it was a busy one.
I had the great pleasure to meet John Gaydos while he was in Toronto for the Proven Winners Plant Extravaganza. This is an event held annually in various cities around North America to promote the latest varieties of plant material available from Proven Winners.
The Toronto event was being held at he Angus Glen Conference Centre. It had 4 speakers lecturing, Mark Cullen, Beckie Fox, Paul Zammit, and John Gaydos. John Gaydos was the main attraction, coming in from Michigan to reveal and describe the annuals, perennials and shrubs that had passed the Proven Winners trials and were soon to be on the market.
I had the chance to shoot this short video with him after his lecture. In it he describes 3 of the new annuals, Anisodontea 'Slightly Strawberry', Coleus 'Alligator Tears' and Nemesia 'Sunsatia Lemon', that were available this spring.
